Our room The Fifth Season is a very special room, as it contains a traditional box-bed “bedstee” in Dutch, with a length of 2 meter. The room faces west, where you can enjoy the view of our alpacas and a beautiful sunset in the evening. To recreate the atmosphere of the old days the room contains some vintage utensils.
A “bedstee” is a bed built into a cupboard which may be closed off with doors or a curtain. They were still in use well into the 19th century, in particular on farms in rural areas. In wintertime the temperature could easily be raised through the body warmth of its occupants to provide a comfortable sleep, without a need for heating.
Additionally, the room is furnished with a hand-made wooden desk, a showcase as wardrobe and a widescreen television attached to the wall. The room has an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, washbasin and raised toilet. You can make your own cup of tea or coffee in the room.
